On the contrary, microscopes like this can only function as long as the rechargeable v\batteries hold to its power. If it does not, then function is impaired as well. You have to bother recharging your batteries again before you can even start using your microscope again. It is not certain that you will always have a power source to rely on when you drain your batteries.
Another type is the microscope, which uses regular alkaline batteries. These are batteries, which you can easily buy from the neighborhood store. They are featured indifferent sizes like AAA, AA, B, and C. Sizes purchased will depend on the microscope being used. When using this type of microscope, you can expect a longer shelf life with reference to the alkaline battery. But these batteries have to be used continuously or they will lose their energy once put away for a longer time.
Portability is the main advantage from using a microscope powered by alkaline batteries. And because it is generally available, you can easily purchase new sets if the old ones run out therefore your microscope can be used as you long as you need it without needing to recharge. It will be a great advantage if you do an off-site study such as in the mountains where no power source is available. But still, its power is limited, which means that sophisticated microscopes do not correspond with this power source as illumination will be as intense as the microscopes using AC power source.
Lastly, we have the combination type battery powered microscope. This type is powered by two various sources such as the AC power source and the batteries in an alternate manner. Sound better, right? Yes, it does. It is also the same as saying that you have a back up. If you run out of power from your batteries, you can easily lug in to any AC source and recharge the batteries at the same time. This will enable you to continue your work and save time.
Having this type of microscope is wiser as you are using more ways for more convenience. Depending on which location you choose to study your subject, may it be in a laboratory, you can always use an available power outlet for AC sources or use batteries when stationed outdoors. One disadvantages, however, is the cost you have to bear with this type of microscope. This probably costs high and may not be affordable to everybody.
